The first edition of the Tyler American Classifieds was published on October 14, 1982. We were the 45th American Classifieds to open. At the present time, there are more than 125 American Classified affiliates across the nation.

In the beginning, we employed 2 typesetters, Bonnie and myself. We began with a 12 page paper and printed 15,000 copies. We are now printing a 2 section paper and distributing 50,000 copies in a 50 mile radius of Tyler, Texas. We now employ +30 people - Office, production, sales and delivery.

At present, we have “edge of the envelope” computers and electronics. The American Classifieds family has joined together to form the largest classified site on the internet, publishing over 350,000 classified ads each week at American Classifieds.

We use the eagle as our mascot. The eagle flies alone - not in a flock. We feel that being classified specialists, this sets us far and above any other publication. Others have tried to copy us; but we don’t have yesterdays news today. We specialize in putting sellers and buyers together.

We would like to thank our loyal readers and advertisers for helping make the Tyler American Classifieds the preeminent classified paper that it is today. We look forward to serving our community, both in print and on the world wide web, and eagerly await what the future will bring.
